We're adding a new flavor to the menu - Peaches n' Cream! Of course, Georgia is known for peaches, but did you know that peaches originated in China? Alexander the Great is often credited with bringing peaches westward toward Europe. Paring fruit with cream or dairy is a much older European tradition, often thought to be specific to England during the Victorian era when fresh cream was commonly paired with fruits as a simple, elegant dessert. But once peaches took off as a crop in the American South, along with dairy farming, the combination of ripe, sun-warmed peaches with fresh cream became a summertime favorite.
When and why does a new flavor get added to the pop menu? Mark is on a never-ending quest for new flavors, or even new takes on classic flavors. Like any chef, every day presents inspiration. His biggest obstacle? Finding the time to experiment in between regular production. The Peaches n' Cream is a nod to Georgia and his version of a summertime classic. And the timing seemed right to introduce a new flavor as the business approached the 10-year anniversary. This pop is also an experiment with a new style - a pop within a pop. Tangy peach on the inside, sweet cream on the outside. The new flavor debuts on September 10 if you need a peaches and cream fix!
